Wet Leg have become the first Isle of Wight band to win a BRIT Award - or in this case two - this evening (Saturday).

Fronted by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, the quintet snagged the Best Group and Best New Artist gongs at a ceremony which took place at the O2 Arena in London.

It continues a remarkable start to 2023 for the band, who picked up GRAMMY Awards for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Music Performance for 'Chaise Longue' less than a week ago.

On receiving the award for Best New Artist, a clearly nervous Rhian said:

"Thank you so much, it's really cool to be doing this on an indie label.

"Being on the telly can feel like such a boys club thing, but I just want to thank all of the women who worked on the production here."

It continues a whirlwind 20-month journey from relative obscurity to global superstardom for Wet Leg.

Debut single, 'Chaise Longue' blew up overnight upon its June 2021 release on YouTube, while their eponymous album went straight into the UK charts at number one last April.

Isle of Wight Radio was the first publication on the planet to review the album.
