Two People Seriously Injured In Newport Collision

Two people have been seriously injured - with one being flown to the mainland - in a crash in Newport today (Friday).

As previously reported, police and the ambulance service have been on scene at the crossing at Church Litten, between Marks and Spencer and Morrisons.

It's understood a tipper van has been involved the collision.

It has been confirmed to Isle of Wight Radio that one person has been flown by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to a mainland hospital, while another has been taken to St Mary's Hospital in Newport.

The road has been cordoned off.

Drivers are being diverted to Coppins Bridge and then into town, or via Medina Avenue.

There is currently no vehicle access to the car parks of Marks and Spencer or Morrisons.
