Multiple Flood Alerts In Force Across Isle of Wight

Multiple flood alerts are now in place across the Isle of Wight - including some of the areas worst hit in previous days.

Urgent Take Action Now alerts have been issued for Coastal areas at Cowes and East Cowes, and tidal areas of Newport - meaning flooding is expected and properties are at risk.

The Environment Agency says:

"Please take action to protect yourself and your property and monitor local weather and river conditions. Avoid contact with, walking or driving through flood water. Consider activating any property flood protection products you may have."

The Environment Agency has issued Be Prepared alerts for the following locations.

  • Monktonmead Brook at Rink Road, Marymead Close, West Hill Road, Simeon Street and The Strand
  • Gurnard Luck

Residents are told to be prepared for possible flooding and to monitor local water levels and weather conditions. Avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.

It's understood that flood defences at Simeon Rec have been put into place by Environment Agency contractors.

As previously reported, the Isle of Wight Council has setup flooding information points. You can find details of these here.
