Sargent Matt Browne from the Neighbourhood Police Team said:

“We take all reports of shoplifting extremely seriously and I hope this result reassures the local community that we will do all we can to put offenders before the courts.
"We want to stop this type of behaviour and encourage businesses to keep reporting crimes so we can relentlessly pursue those responsible."

Tips for Protecting Your Business:

  • Ensure staff can operate any security equipment, including panic alarms.

  • Keep CCTV cameras maintained, properly positioned, and serviced annually.

  • Remind staff to report suspicious activity to a manager or the police, including date, time, and description of the person involved.

Shop owners and staff are encouraged to continue reporting shoplifting incidents to the police.

You can do this by calling 101, or reporting online via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website. If a crime is in progress, call 999 immediately.
