Police were alerted shortly after midday, with HM Coastguard requested to support the response.
Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue, along with Ryde Inshore Rescue, attended the scene and carried out searches along the Esplanade and surrounding coastline.
By around 1pm, the search area had shifted towards the Canoe Lake, where the individual was located sitting in a nearby shelter.
The incident was safely brought to a conclusion shortly afterwards.
