The Isle of Wight could be heading for another spell of very warm or even hot weather, but forecasters say it's too early to know whether it will match the intense heat experienced last week.
According to the Isle of Wight Met Service, the rest of this week will remain pleasant, with temperatures staying slightly above average.
While there is a chance of a few patches of rain over the next few days, conditions are expected to become increasingly settled from Thursday onwards.
Temperatures will gradually climb through the end of the week, with plenty of sunshine forecast across much of the Island by the weekend.
Highs are expected to reach the mid to high 20s.
Looking ahead to next week, there is potential for even hotter weather to develop.
However, the exact outcome depends on where a developing area of high pressure eventually settles.
Current weather models show the jet stream taking a significant diversion around the UK, allowing high pressure to build and bringing several days of settled conditions.
The position of that high-pressure system will be key.
If it remains over the UK or just to the west, the Isle of Wight is likely to experience the sort of warm weather typically seen during summer.
However, if it shifts slightly further east, it could draw much hotter air northwards, potentially bringing another spell of heat that rivals last week's temperatures.
Despite that possibility, the Isle of Wight Met Service says there is still considerable uncertainty over the exact position of the high-pressure system, making it far too early to say with confidence which scenario will develop.
Forecasters will continue to monitor the situation over the coming days, but say they are confident that the weather will turn very warm, or even hot, again as the weekend approaches.
