Iconic radio presenter Alex Dyke is returning to the airwaves as part of a brand new station for the Island.

Isle of Wight Radio Retro is launching as IW Radio's sister station, bringing a mix of classic hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s alongside familiar local voices.

Alex Dyke’s Bubble Gum and Cheese will air every Saturday and Sunday from 10am, featuring a blend of lesser-known tracks, favourites and singalong classics.

The new station will also include Jenni Costello hosting weekday breakfast, while Nick Osborne takes on the Drive Home slot with features including his ‘Dinnertime Disco’. Late-night listeners can tune into The Nightshift from 10pm for soul and funk.

At weekends, Andy Knight will host the morning show, with Mark Dodson rounding off Sundays with The Rewind.

As well as music, Isle of Wight Radio Retro will provide local news, travel updates and a guide to events happening across the Island.

A retro station looks like a fun addition, especially with Alex Dyke returning. There’s something comforting about radio that mixes familiar voices with songs people connect to real memories. A certain track can take you straight back to a car ride, a first job, or a summer evening you forgot about. I still think live presenters make a big difference because they add personality, not just playlists. When it comes to radio services, I also keep contacts like sirius xm radio customer support saved for account or listening questions. Retro music works best when it feels warm, easy, and shared.
