Ventnor Rugby Club celebrated a memorable season by recognising its standout players, coaches and volunteers at its annual end-of-season dinner dance.

The event, held at The Ryde Castle Hotel on Saturday 13 June, marked the end of a hugely successful campaign that saw Ventnor crowned Hampshire Counties League champions, earning promotion, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Community Cup.

With plenty of strong performances throughout the season, the club's coaches and captains faced some difficult decisions when selecting this year's award winners.

The awards were presented as follows:

  • 1st XV Player of the Year: Harvey Wheeler

  • 1st XV Most Improved Player: Will Broomfield

  • 2nd XV Player of the Year: Adam Wade

  • 2nd XV Most Improved Player: Tony Jacobson

  • John Adams Young Player of the Year: Josh Ford

  • Coaches' Player of the Year: Alec Bulpitt

  • Top Try Scorer: Tom Branagh

  • Tristan Price Players' Player of the Year: Luke Butler

  • Supporters' Player of the Year: Lewis 'Jewy' Jones

  • Clubmen of the Year: Bradley Francis and Molly Ford

Adding to the celebrations, Ventnor's head coach, Damien Marriott, was recognised beyond the club after being named Hampshire RFU Coach of the Year.

Special presentations were made by Jeannette Adams, who presented the John Adams Young Player of the Year Award, and Fiona Duncan, who presented the Tristan Price Players' Player of the Year Award.

Ventnor Rugby Club has also thanked the management and staff at The Ryde Castle Hotel for hosting what it described as a successful and enjoyable evening.
