Platform One Celebrates First Sustainable Fashion Graduates

The first students to complete Platform One's Sustainable Fashion degree have celebrated their graduation, three years after the course was launched on the Isle of Wight.
The pioneering group graduated alongside students from the BA (Hons) Commercial Music programme during a ceremony at Chichester Cathedral in September.
It marks a milestone for the Island-based education provider, which introduced its Sustainable Fashion degree in 2023 in partnership with the University of Chichester.
More than half of the inaugural cohort achieved First Class Honours, having previously showcased their final collections at Platform One's graduate Runway fashion show in June.
The course focuses on responsible production, creative design and developing the practical skills needed to work within the evolving fashion industry.
Hannah Woodford, Head of Sustainable Fashion, said:
"Graduation was a particularly special occasion as we celebrated the very first graduates from our BA(Hons) Sustainable Fashion degree.
"We are incredibly proud to offer degree-level education here on the Isle of Wight, providing opportunities for students to pursue their creative ambitions on the Island.
"This pioneering cohort achieved outstanding results, with over half graduating with First Class Honours, a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for everyone involved."
Commercial Music graduates were also recognised at the ceremony, having completed studies covering performance, songwriting, production and the wider music industry.
Platform One has supported creative talent on the Island for 25 years, with former students including members of Wet Leg, Coach Party, Lauran Hibberd, CHAMPS and Plastic Mermaids.
Originally established as a specialist music education provider, it now offers further education, undergraduate and postgraduate opportunities.
The organisation is already looking ahead to its September 2027 intake, with applications encouraged for both its Commercial Music and Sustainable Fashion degrees.
The courses allow Island students to work towards a university qualification without having to relocate to the mainland.
Prospective students can find further information about entry requirements, upcoming open evenings and the application process through Platform One's website.
