Pupils from Broadlea Primary School have officially reopened Manor Road Play Park in Lake after helping shape its redesign.
The ribbon was cut by the children alongside teachers, representatives from Lake Parish Council and the Isle of Wight Council.
Funded by Lake Parish Council, the refurbished play area features a new multi-play centrepiece.
An accessible swing and slide are also set to be installed as part of the next phase of the project.
Broadlea Primary School headteacher Lynn Torrance said pupils had enjoyed being involved from the design stage through to completion, particularly in helping ensure the play park includes accessible equipment.
Lake Parish Council Chairman Paul Brading said local children had been fully involved in the project and would help ensure facilities such as Manor Road Play Park and Fairway Park continue to be maintained and improved for future generations.
The improvements form part of the Building the Bay initiative, through which Lake Parish Council has also supported school breakfast clubs, reading projects, youth services, Lake and Sandown Football Club, warm spaces and local volunteer groups.
Manor Road Play Park first opened in 1946 and has continued to evolve over the past 80 years to meet the needs of local children and the wider community.
