Coastguard teams, the RNLI and ambulance crews were called to Woodside this afternoon after a man entered the sea and reportedly refused to come ashore.

Emergency services, including Cowes RNLI and HM Coastguard, responded to an incident off Osborne Bay after a woman suffered a medical emergency aboard a vessel.

It is understood the casualty was stretchered to the top of the cliff before being taken to St Mary’s Hospital for further treatment.

Up to six shipping containers have been spotted floating in the sea to the south-east of the Isle of Wight after vessels lost cargo during Storm Goretti.
