Emergency services were called to a remote bay near Ventnor late on Sunday night following reports of a person suffering the effects of a suspected drug overdose.
It was just before 11pm on Sunday (22 February) that HM Coastguard was alerted to a developing situation at Orchard Bay, between Ventnor and St Lawrence.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and Bembridge were sent to the scene.
RNLI Bembridge launched its All Weather Lifeboat at 11.50pm, making best speed to the south Wight coastline.
An HM Coastguard rescue helicopter was also scrambled from Lee-on-Solent, initially circling overhead before being re-tasked to a separate incident in Southampton.
It is understood the casualty was stretchered to the top of the cliff before being taken to St Mary’s Hospital for further treatment.
HM Coastguard said the incident concluded at around 3.15am on Monday morning.
Bembridge’s lifeboat was stood down shortly after 1.25am.
