Man Rescued After Refusing To Leave Sea At Wootton

A man has been rescued after entering the sea at Woodside, Wootton, and reportedly refusing to come ashore.
HM Coastguard was alerted to a welfare concern at around 1.30pm on Thursday, after receiving reports that a man had entered the water and was refusing requests from those with him to leave the sea.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor were sent to the scene, alongside Cowes RNLI Lifeboat.
Emergency responders arrived shortly before 2pm.
The man was safely brought ashore and assessed by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
An ambulance and an operational commander also attended the incident.
A spokesperson for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said:
"HM Coastguard is currently attending an incident at Woodside Beach, Wootton.
"Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and Bembridge have been sent, along with an RNLI lifeboat from Cowes."
The circumstances surrounding the incident have not been confirmed.
