Woman Found With Back Injuries After Extensive Search Of Thorness

A 54-year-old woman who was the subject of a multi-agency search off Thorness today (Saturday) has been found on the shore with a back injury.

As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, concerns about the welfare of a woman in her fifties led to an extensive search by police and coastguard crews.

The alarm was raised shortly after 7.30am this morning, when the woman was discovered missing from Thorness Bay Holiday Park.

Cowes RNLI launched their lifeboat at 10.35am and carried out an extensive search of the western Solent.

She was eventually located on the shore at Thorness by a member of the public and Ventnor coastguards.

She was flown by coastguard helicopter to St Mary’s Hospital, in Newport.
