Weekend Of Celebrations As Isle Of Wight Pride Returns To Ryde

Ryde will transform into a sea of colour this weekend as Isle of Wight Pride returns to the town.

Three days' worth of celebrations get underway this evening (Friday).

A launch party at Eastern Gardens kicks off this year's event.

Pride is back in Ryde following a two-year hiatus, caused by the COVID pandemic.

Friday

Tonight a host of entertainment will take to the stage for the pre Pride party.

This will be hosted at Eastern Gardens in the Ascensos Community Village.

From popular drag queen Proud Mary to local music acts, organisers are promising fun for all ages.

Saturday

Tomorrow, an array of colour will weave its way through the streets for the Pride parade.

The community village opens at 11am.

The parade is expected to start from Ryde School at around 12pm, although this is subject to change.

A map of the route can be found below...

Entertainment starts at 1pm and finishes at around 10pm.

Sunday

The show will draw to a close on Sunday (17), but not before a raft of performances.

Entertainment again kicks off from 1pm.

With temperatures set to soar on the Island, Pride organisers are urging Islanders to stay safe, drink plenty of fluids and look out for others.

Although no tickets are required, volunteers will have buckets at entry points to collect a nominal fee.
