Weekend Of Celebration For Newport Care Home Residents

Residents of a Newport care home were treated to two enjoyable events at the weekend.

Saturday saw Orchard House Care Home celebrate Saint Patrick's Day with festivities and traditional Irish culture.

The day began with the residents gathering in the communal area to share a pint of Guinness and traditional Irish food.

As the day went on, the residents were treated to Irish music and dancing performances.

The home's General Manager, Kim Fleming, said:

"We always look forward to celebrating St. Patrick's Day at Orchard House Care Home.

"It's a time for our residents to come together and enjoy the festivities, and we're so glad we could make it happen again this year."

Sunday saw a celebration of Mother's Day.

The afternoon was made extra special thanks to the presence of guest singer, Roux.

The care home's lounge was transformed into a festive space with decorations and flowers in honour of all the mothers in attendance.

Residents and their families enjoyed a spread of sandwiches, cakes and scones, along with their choice of tea or coffee.

Roux (below) sang a range of classic songs that had everyone tapping their feet and singing along.

The care home's manager, Kim Fleming, said:

"We are delighted to have had Roux as our guest — her beautiful voice has brought so much joy to our residents and their families.

"It's wonderful to see everyone come together on this special occasion to celebrate the amazing mothers in our lives.

"The tea afternoon was a huge success, with everyone leaving with full stomachs, smiling faces, and hearts full of love."
