Trial Date For Cowes Teen Accused Of Isle Of Wight Festival Terror Plot

A 15-year-old from Cowes, accused of researching the Isle of Wight Festival as a potential terror target, is due to stand trial next year.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared via videolink at the Old Bailey this morning (Thursday).

Wearing black trousers and a grey jumper, he spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.

He appeared from youth detention, where he has been detained in the run up to today's hearing.

The 15-year-old is charged with preparation of terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

He previously denied the charge at Westminster Magistrates' Court. At the time, prosecutors said he researched the festival after developing an interest in extreme Islam and supported Isis ideology.

The youth is accused of looking at weapons, including firearms, vehicles and a stab vest.

A Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing date has been set for November 4. A trial is due to be heard on April 18 at Winchester Crown Court.

He remains in youth detention until that date.
