Sponsor A Historical Treasure And Help Celebrate 125th Anniversary Of Carisbrooke Castle Museum

This year marks the 125th anniversary of the founding of Carisbrooke Castle Museum by HRH Princess Beatrice.

To commemorate this, Medina Publishing is collaborating with the Museum to produce a book featuring 100 artefacts from their collection of over 35,000 items connected to the Isle of Wight.

From the stone age right up to the 21st century, these objects reveal some of the island’s most historic and significant stories as well as a few unusual and quirky tales from the past.

To make this happen, the charity — which runs the Museum — is seeking the support of the local community.

Members of the public can be part of the celebrations by sponsoring an object.

From a lock of Charles I’s hair to George V’s Isle of Wight Rifles jacket, sponsors can choose an artefact for £125 or take a lucky dip for £100.

In addition to this, they will also receive:

  • A limited edition copy of the book
  • A sponsor's credit line in the first edition of the book
  • Invitation to a sponsors launch event at the museum
  • Membership of the Friends of Carisbrooke Castle Museum for one year

Founded as a museum of Isle of Wight history by Princess Beatrice in 1898, Carisbrooke Castle Museum is an accredited museum and charity that cares for an
extensive collection of artefacts connected to Island life over the last 1000 years.

Leading the project is Dr. Rachel Tait, Museum Curator. She says:

“This book is an opportunity to share the museum’s collection of beautiful and significant objects.

"These date from pre-history to the present day and have been collected over the past 125 years.’’

Those interested can browse the collection, pre-order or purchase a copy of the book online.

To keep up to date on the progress of the book, follow the Carisbrooke Castle Museum and Medina Bookshop websites.
