Southern Water £2.6m Project Underway To Improve Water In Shalfleet

Work has started on a new £2.6 million project to enhance Shalfleet wastewater treatment works on the Isle of Wight.

It comes hot on the heels of the recent announcement of £4 million being spend at Roud wastewater treatment works on the Island.

The investment aims to improve water quality, reduce storm overflows and protect the environment.

Work started this month and will take approximately one year to complete.

This is one of four similar projects starting across the Island over the coming months, which are set to cost more than £10 million.

Project Manager for Southern Water, Taniko Aston-Kolek, said:

“We know how important it is to protect and enhance water quality and our precious environment across the areas we serve.

"These vital improvements in Shalfleet add to the other investments we’re making on the island.”
