Shanklin Childcare Centre Event Raises Funds For Father's Lifesaving Cancer Treatment

Furzehill Childcare Centre in Shanklin held its Fundraising Extravaganza event in aid of Island father of two Reece Payne on Saturday (February 11.)

Reece has set up a JustGiving campaign to help him to raise £50,000 for lifesaving cancer treatment in Japan — he is planning his trip in the next few weeks.

An event which started with the idea of a small cake sale, quickly escalated into the extravaganza with the help of Angela Lorenz from Miss Poppins parties and fitness trainer Anneka Wilson.

Several hundreds of people attended and took part in a magnificent bake off, Dad's masterclass, baby bootcamp and Disney dance-off, while also being treated to a performance by Miss Poppins Dancers.

A huge raffle with 64 amazing prizes, face painting, glitter tattoos, cake sale, circus skills and balloon modelling were among the activities on offer throughout the day.

That said, it was a visit from Peppa Pig that stole the show!

A spokesperson for Furzehill Childcare Centre said:

"The day was a tremendous success and far exceeded our expectations.

"Our total raised so far is £2449.16 and we still have sponsor money and other donations to come in so we are hoping to reach £3,000.

"Reece attended with his two daughters and partner Carlie who were also overwhelmed by the support and generosity."
