Sandown Ready For New Year's Day Celebrations

Sandown’s popular New Year’s Day fireworks display is set to light up the skies tomorrow (January 1).

The show, which takes place from the end of the town’s pier, is scheduled to start at 6pm.

To allow safe spectator viewing, the Esplanade will be closed between Pier Street and Esplanade Road from 4.30pm until approximately 6.30pm.

The event has been organised by Sandown Carnival, whose Chair, Paul Coueslant, says:

"Our spectacular display is usually visible all along the Bay and entices residents and visitors to get out and celebrate after Christmas.

"We’re delighted to put it on as our first event of 2023."

Sandown Carnival welcomes donations to help stage its events through the year, including the town’s summer parades and Sandown Bay Regatta. Donations can be made at the events or online.

Sandown Carnival supports RSPCA guidance to help keep pets calm and safe when fireworks are happening.
