Rescue Teams Recover Body Off The Isle Of Wight

A body has been recovered from the sea off the Isle of Wight.

Bembridge RNLI's All-Weather Lifeboat (RNLB Alfred Albert Williams) was launched this afternoon (Sunday), to assist in locating a casualty seen by the crew of a Brittany ferry, 10nm south east of Bembridge.

RNLB Alfred Albert Williams was launched at 4.57pm at the request of Solent Coastguard, to assist in the search.

HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175 was also involved in the search, and at around 6.20pm it reported it had located a body.

The lifeboat was tasked to recover the casualty and return to Bembridge, where the crew was met by the Police and others emergency teams, at 7.45pm.
