Repairs To Burst Water Main In Newport Completed By Southern Water

Repairs to a broken sewer have been completed by Southern Water following 48 hours of disruption near to Seaclose Park.

A burst sewer main caused flooding close to Newport's Premier Inn hotel in the early hours of Monday morning (24).

Southern Water — which had tankers stationed along the Quay during the operation — confirmed the work has now been completed.

A statement issued by Southern Water today said:

"We’re pleased to say repairs to the broken sewer at The Quay in Newport were completed overnight.

"We’re sorry for the noise and disruption caused by the tankers we used to manage flows protecting the environment and preventing further flooding.

"These have now been stood down."

The process saw specialist teams carrying out repairs to the main over the course of more than 48 hours.
