East Cowes Seaside Café Seeking Alcohol License

A popular Isle of Wight seaside café is looking to add alcoholic drinks to its menu, alongside Mr Whippy ice creams and chips.

Shoreside Cafe, on East Cowes Esplanade, wants to serve something a bit stronger to customers appreciating the view, between March and October.

In a licensing application submitted to the Isle of Wight Council, its owner hopes to add a small choice of premium alcohol to the existing menu.

Iso Whittle and her husband, Wayne, also own The Big Kahuna on Ryde seafront.

The couple took over the East Cowes cafe earlier this year.

If the licence is granted, it would start from March 1 and would allow the cafe to sell alcohol between 10am and 6.30pm.

The cafe says high prices would act as a deterrent against public nuisance, adding it would not sell discounted and cheap drinks.

It says it would also not sell to those already intoxicated.

The cafe overlooks the Solent and is a popular evening spot for those wishing to see cruise ships leaving Southampton and sailing past the Island.

You can view the application, 23/01753/LAPNEW, on the Isle of Wight Council’s licensing register. Comments can be submitted until December 29.
