Police Appeal For Ryde Assault Witnesses To Come Forward

Hampshire Constabulary is trying to locate two key witnesses to an assault which took place in Ryde back in October.

A man and woman in their 50s were assaulted on Union Street, near Yelf’s, between 3am and 3.40am on 8 October 2022.

Officers have been conducting a number of enquiries and are keen to identify the occupants of the silver Land Rover pictured in the CCTV images.

The first image shows the Land Rover, and the second shows a man and a woman who were in the vehicle.

Police understand that this vehicle stopped and spoke to people at the scene, and a woman in the vehicle helped one of the victims to get back up on his feet and across the road.

The occupants of this vehicle are being treated as witnesses, and if you were in this vehicle we ask you to please get in touch with us.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:

"As part of enquiries, we have arrested two people – a 22-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman – on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

"They have been released from custody but remain under investigation while enquiries continue."
