Police And Immigration Teams Visit Ryde Car Wash

Police and Immigration teams have visited a car wash in Ryde today (Wednesday).

A number of officers from the High Harm Team and Ryde Neighbourhoods Policing Team attended the Five Star Hand Car Wash in East Street, accompanied by Immigration Enforcement Officers and officers from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).

The visit was part of intelligence work into potential slavery.

No offences have been identified.

An Isle of Wight Police spokesperson said:

"If you live in the Ryde area you may have noticed some police activity at the Five Star Hand Car Wash in East Street this morning.

"Nothing to be alarmed about, we can assure you!

"Today’s activity forms part of our routine multi-agency approach to identifying offences and safeguarding potential victims of modern slavery.

"No offences have been identified as part of today’s visit."
