Outpouring Of Support Shown As Fundraiser Launched For Brave Cassie

Islanders have shown an outpouring of support for a fundraiser launched for a teenager on the Isle of Wight.

Cassidy, who lives in Ventnor, is 19 years-old and suffers from a plethora of painful terminal medical conditions:

  • Severe Dilated Cardiomyopathy
  • Ventricular Tachycardia
  • Severe Terminal Rare Genetic Skin Condition
  • Severe Chronic Fatigue
  • Severe Chronic Pain
  • Scoliosis
  • Joint dislocations
  • Postural Hypotension

She is now in end stage heart failure with a sad prognosis of a realistic 6-12 months left to live. Her care is now Palliative.

A statement on Cassidy's Go Fund Me page from her cousin Jodie says:

"Cassidy is the most selfless young lady and never ceases to amaze me with her smile, strength and resilience.

"As her condition deteriorates further she will need help towards medical equipment allowing her to remain at home for as long as possible so she can have visitors throughout."

Any help from the fundraiser will go towards funding a new made to measure wheelchair and a special medical bed for Cassidy.

The family is also grateful for any vouchers or experiences which people are able to donate for Cassidy to have some special moments while she continues her brave battle.

Jodie continued:

"Cassidy has such complex health issues and is an inspiration to us all on how she has embraced her life so far, even volunteering at the local children's centre.

"This sudden news has impacted us all and I would love for Cassidy to be able to just do some really lovely fun things with her family and for her not to worry about anything she may need over the coming months.

"I know she also would like to leave a legacy to other young adults that are terminally ill on the Isle of Wight as there are limited resources available."

Every penny raised or indeed any experience, voucher, tickets, or offer of help will ensure a happier ending for Cassidy.

Those who would like to leave a message of support for Cassidy can do so through her Instagram page.
