Newport's Beaulieu Respite Named Island Roads Charity Of The Year For 2023

L-R: Tony Wake, Elbie Todd, Richard Evans (Beaulieu House manager), and Rachel Mills, (IR Fundraising committee member).

Island Roads staff have chosen Beaulieu Respite as their charity of the year.

It will mean the Newport-based centre which supports Isle of Wight disabled children and their families will receive the proceeds raised by Island Roads staff from a variety of planned events over the coming year.

Beaulieu, which is the only disabled children’s overnight respite centre on the Island, was chosen as Island Roads charity of the year after a staff vote.

Staff and volunteers from Beaulieu visited Island Roads’ HQ at Dodnor recently to meet staff and to talk more about the vital support they provide.

Elbie Todd from Island Roads’ fundraising committee said:

“Staff here were both impressed and moved by the support that Beaulieu provide for deserving youngsters and their families we are really excited about raising as much money as we can for this fantastic centre.”

Tony Wake chairman of Beaulieu Respite added:

“It was great to meet the people at Island Roads and to talk more about the crucial work we undertake at Beaulieu.

“Beaulieu Respite is a registered charity supporting the children and young people at Beaulieu House in Newport.

"Our charity has no paid staff as we work on a voluntary basis, so almost every penny raised goes directly to make the children’s lives nicer — we are delighted to have Island Roads behind us this year.”
