More Than 150 Motorists Caught Speeding In November

More than 150 drivers were caught speeding by police on the Isle of Wight during November.

Enforcement is carried out as part of the wider Joint Operations Unit (JOU), which serves all of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, as well as the Thames Valley.

They frequently visit the Island to monitor poor driving standards - including speeding - which is a concern to residents.

They were active once again throughout November, and visited 19 different locations across the Island on 35 occasions.

As a result of their work, the Safer Roads Unit caught 161 motorists speeding.

Isle of Wight Police said:

"The dedicated Roads Policing Unit on the Island, as well as the dual-skilled Roads Policing/Armed Response Vehicle teams (RP/ARV), are all committed to targeting dangerous driving habits and keeping our roads safer.

"The combined efforts of all of these teams are much more effective when we receive information and intelligence from the public about specific issues and problem areas. So, please keep reporting things to us.

"When you report speeding or other driving offences, you may not always see an immediate police response. However, please be reassured this information is all used to help us target hotspot areas."
