Man Suffers Serious Facial Injuries Following Four-Person Assault In Cowes

Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in Cowes.

The incident was reported to police on Monday (July 4) after the victim had left hospital, however the incident took place several days earlier.

Police were told that between 9.40pm and 10pm June 30, a man in his 20s was walking home from The Painters Arms, and was walking along St Marys Road when he was assaulted by a group of four men.

It’s believed he was struck with a metal object, and suffered a broken cheekbone and two fractures to his eye socket as a result.

The assault took place opposite the grassy area with the metal gate on St Marys Road.

The men responsible were described as follows:

  • First manwhite, approximately 6ft 2 ins tall, stocky, mid length dark hair, full beard.
  • Second manwhite, aged a little over 30, thin, approximately 6ft tall. He had straggly, dark, unkempt hair.
  • Third man described as wearing a Nike shirt. No further description.

No description has been made available for the fourth man.
