Man Admits Ryde Aggravated Burglary And Knife Possession

A man is due to be sentenced after admitting aggravated burglary and possession of a knife.

At around 6.15pm on Saturday August 13, police were called to an incident in Melville Street in Ryde, where 59-year-old Andrew Saurin was observed standing in the street with a knife whilst shouting threats towards someone in a nearby flat.

During the incident, Saurin broke into the flat and assaulted the occupant inside.

Police attended and arrested Saurin. He was subsequently charged with aggravated burglary and possession of a knife in a public place.

Saurin, of Melville Street in Ryde, admitted both offences when he appeared at Newport Crown Court today (Monday), and was remanded in custody for sentencing on November 29.
