Local Care Home Residents Celebrate London Fashion Week With Red Carpet Show

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Vecta House care home in Newport have celebrated London Fashion Week, reminiscing about their favourite styles over the years.

From the Swinging Sixties through to Vivienne Westwood’s punk provocations and Alexander McQueen’s dark and dramatic visions, the capital has a long legacy of producing extraordinary design but the first London Fashion Week didn’t take place until 1984.

Staff and residents at Vecta House's activities team created a fashion show setting with a red carpet runway for the afternoon event.

"Dress For Less" in Newport donated a selection of outfits for the home to use and the residents enjoyed picking out what they would like to wear for the big event.

Tanya Everson, Lifestyle Leader at Vecta House, said:

“This was such a great event to organise for our residents and it was great seeing a whole home approach with staff from housekeeping, maintenance, care, management and visitors getting involved.

"It was a really joyful afternoon”

Jean, a resident at Vecta House, added:

“It was a lovely afternoon well supported by the audience with lots of laughter and applauding.”

Vecta House's varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, providing a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
