Johns Club Disability Football Team Earns End Of Season Award

An Isle of Wight charity which helps people with both mental and physical disabilities has hoisted silverware following a successful football season.

The team from Johns Club, based in Shanklin, plays in the Eastleigh FC Foundation Community Trust Pan Football league — a specialist league for teams fielding disabled players.

The end of season awards ceremony saw the team awarded the prestigious Community Spirit Award, presented to sides that embody the spirit of disability football.

Team Manager, Leanne Gander, said:

"I am so proud of the teams, they put so much into the club it is great to see them get some recognition.

"The team practices every Thursday night and makes regular trips to the main land to take part in the league.

"They are due to take part in the Basingstoke disability tournament in early August."

Anyone interested in becoming involved with the team and disability football can call Johns Club on 864215.
