SOLD OUT: Isle Of Wight Radio And Festival Team Up With Mountbatten For Fairlee Fireworks Extravaganza

Isle of Wight Radio is teaming up with the Isle of Wight Festival and Mountbatten to bring a family-fun firework extravaganza to Newport's North Fairlee Farm.

Featuring a fire show, live music, a bonfire, crowdeoke, food vendors, bars and a firework finale, the event will raise money for the Isle of Wight's hospice.

The Island’s first-ever Fairlee Fireworks will take place on Saturday November 5 and a limited number of tickets go on sale today (Friday).

The event will be hosted by Isle of Wight Radio's own Topping in the Morning breakfast team.

Local acts Foo Fighterz, 30Ten and The RUG Band will also perform on stage before a session of 'crowdeoke' – an all-crowd karaoke singalong with a live band.

One of the highlights will be the fundraising firewalk - a barefoot across red hot coals.

Sponsored by Wight Fire and Security, the charity is looking for more than 100 adrenaline junkies to take on the challenge – or put their boss in the firing line.

Mountbatten CEO Nigel Hartley and festival organiser Caroline Giddings are leading by example and are among those who will brave the heat to raise funds for Mountbatten.

The fireworks will start at 8pm.

Festival organiser John Giddings said:

“We are so excited to be teaming up with Mountbatten and Isle of Wight Radio to bring you Fairlee Fireworks, it’s going to be a great night.

“We’re always keen to give something back to the Island community and Mountbatten is a cause close to everyone’s hearts.

"Please give generously and let’s make it a 5th of November to remember.”

Isle of Wight Radio’s Paul Topping added:

“We are delighted to be bringing a fantastic firework event back to the Island, with live entertainment for the whole family.”

Fairlee Fireworks tickets cost £2 per person and, due to limited numbers, pre-booking online is essential.

The ticket fee only covers the cost of putting on the event, so attendees are urged to donate more to Mountbatten when booking online or at the gate on the night.

Mountbatten CEO Nigel Hartley said:

“What a way to celebrate our 45th anniversary year!

"We’re very proud to play our part in bringing this event to the Island and we’re so grateful for everyone’s support."
