Isle Of Wight MP And GP Peter Brand Dies Aged 76

A former Isle of Wight MP who was also well respected among the local medical community has died aged 76.

Former Liberal Democrat politician Peter Brand passed away at his East Cowes home on September 22.

He was surrounded by loved ones upon his death.

Mr Brand was elected the Isle of Wight's MP in 1997, taking the reins from Barry Field.

He left the his seat in 2001, having been replaced by the Conservative Party's Andrew Turner.

Mr Brand was a doctor and worked in both Brading and Lake from 1977 to 2006.

He is survived by wife, Jane, and sons, Edmund and Jonathan.

A celebration of life service will take place from 12.30pm at St James' Church in East Cowes on Thursday, October 19.
