Isle Of Wight Amber Heat Alert Extended

A Met Office Amber heat alert has been extended into Monday (18).

A weather warning comes into force on Sunday, but will now be in place until midnight on Monday night.

Temperatures are expected to reach the 30s as the Island heats up.

A Level 4 Heat Alert has been issued by the IW Met Service today.

The Met Office said:

"Exceptionally high temperatures are possible during Sunday and Monday and could lead to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure.

"Temperatures will rise again later this week and over the coming weekend, likely peaking on Sunday and Monday, but may last into Tuesday in places.

"Some exceptionally high temperatures are possible and cumulative effects of warm nights and hot days are expected to bring widespread impacts to people and infrastructure."
