Island Line Closure Put In Place Due To Severe Flooding

Island Line services will be out of action for an undetermined period after severe flooding caused damage to the infrastructure of the rail service.

A spokesperson for the company said:

"I’m sure you’re aware that we aren’t running a service on the Island Line due to the severe flooding in recent days.

"Unfortunately, the flooding has caused some significant damage to our infrastructure.

"Engineers will need to carry out repairs to track and signalling, at our Ryde Traincare Depot and in Ryde tunnel.

"We hope to have a timeframe for re-opening the Island Line soon, but in the meantime, buses will continue to replace trains between Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin.

"We will be in touch when we have more information."
