A warning for ice has been issued by the Isle of Wight Met Service today (Monday).
The service says to expect ice/black ice between 10pm tonight and 1pm tomorrow, with temperatures set to plummet overnight.
DETAILS
Through this evening and overnight the temperature will fall to freezing or below in many places, leading to a widespread frost and also the freezing of any run-off and surface water from the recent heavy rainfall.
Rural areas are most at risk with temperatures dipping to around -2°C or perhaps even -3°C here.
IMPACTS, EFFECTS AND MEASURES
• Ice sheets and black ice on roads and walkways leading to extremely slippery and hazardous driving conditions in places, especially in more rural parts
• Risk of accidents or injuries from slipping on what appears to be a wet pavement or walkway, when it is in fact invisible black ice.
