Hunnyhill Residents Without Water For 'At Least Another 24 Hours' Following Burst Main

Work is continuing on a burst pipe at Newport's Hunnyhill this afternoon (Monday), with the road remaining access only.

The road will be closed from Hunnycross to top of Hunnyhill and a diversion around the Riverway Industrial Estate in place.

A spokesperson for Southern Water confirmed that the works will continue in to at least tomorrow:

"This issue started following a burst main on Sunday (16) morning," the spokesperson confirmed.

"Around half a dozen homes will remain without water — with customer teams delivering water to them.

"Those six properties won't be able to use water until total assurance nothing in new pipe — at least 24 hours until samples are cleared.

"The people affected will be entitled to compensation."

Hunnyhill will remain access only until the repair work is complete.

Some properties in the Riverway and Dodnor area have also been affected by a loss of water supply since the main burst, although these issues appear to have been resolved.
