The company confirmed its TownGate Retail Park branch is closed to allow for a deep clean.

A Halfords spokesperson said:

“We can confirm that a colleague from our Newport store has tested positive for Covid-19. As a precautionary measure, we temporarily closed the store for a deep clean as soon as we became aware of their result and the store will reopen once it is completed.

"We are also implementing the correct test and trace procedures and will continue to follow Government guidelines."

It the latest business to be affected by COVID. Last week, Arreton's The Fighting Cocks was forced to close due to staff shortages.

While, earlier this month (August), it was confirmed a number of Cowes businesses had been forced to shut.
