COVID Isolations Force Closure Of Cowes Venues

A number of venues in Cowes have been forced to temporarily close due to staff self-isolating.

The Anchor Inn is among the closures.

A statement from the pub said:

"We regret to inform you all that due to a number of staff having to isolate we are sorry to say we have made the difficult decision to close the pub for a few days.

"We are so sorry for any disappointment this may cause and hope that everyone can understand the situation we are in.

"We will be contacting all bookings to cancel or rearrange.

"We will keep you updated with when we can reopen."

Gastronomy restaurant is also closed.

A statement reads:

"Another Cowes venue bites the dust (temporarily)…

"Well, it looks like Cowes Week may have done more harm than good. We thought we had *just* enough staff to open tonight and run service this weekend, but it wasn’t meant to be.

"A large proportion of our team is having to self isolate - too many to run service properly, and we want to make sure our remaining team members are safe as well (and our customers!)

"It’s likely we won’t be back open for a full week, but we’ll assess everything on Monday and give you an update.

"Customers will be contacted today to rearrange bookings. Bear with us, there’s an awful lot of you to get through.

"Stay safe people. See you on the flip side."

The Pontoon View Bar is closed too.

A statement reads:

"Despite all of our Safe Working Practices and Procedures the Dreaded Virus and the 'Pingdemic’ has taken its toll on our team and we have more off than on at the moment.

"Many of them have tested negative but are still required to isolate for the required period.

"This leaves us in the unfortunate position of closing our marquee doors until next Monday when we will welcome you back with a new menu and more importantly our PV team with the all clear to provide a safe service to you all once again, thankyou for your patience and wishing those in isolation a speedy recovery …this pandemic is not over yet!

"Stay safe and please keep on observing Government guidance."
