COVID has seen the temporary closure of another popular Isle of Wight restaurant.

The Fighting Cocks, near Arreton, has shut for 10 days due to staff shortages caused by self-isolating.

Posting on Facebook, the restaurant said it was "devastated" to be shutting.

"We are absolutely devastated to be grinding to a halt, especially during such a phenomenal summer, but we always have had the health, safety and welfare of our staff and customers held with the highest regard and we will continue to do so.

"Thank you for your continued support and understanding... we look forward to seeing you all again when we are all bright eyed and bushy tailed."

The restaurant says it is "working closely" with the Isle of Wight Council as well as NHS Track and Trace.

All bookings over the next 10 days have been cancelled, but emails and Facebook messages will continue to be checked.

The restaurant hopes to be back open from Friday August 27.

Earlier today (Tuesday), Isle of Wight Radio reported how The Hut at Colwell Bay had been shut.
