COVID: 82% Of Isle Of Wight's 16 And Overs Fully Vaccinated

Almost 100,000 people on the Isle of Wight have now been double-jabbed.

It means 82 per cent of the Island's 120,425 16 and over population have now been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Latest NHS England figures show 2,472 jabs were handed out on the Island in the week to August 22.

Around 1,696 second vaccines were given during that period, taking the overall number of second doses to 98,916.

Meanwhile, there have been 107,311 first doses Island-wide since the roll-out began.

Data shows more than 300 under 18s have been been double-jabbed, while 1,365 have received a first dose of a vaccine.

When both first and second doses are taken into account, the Island has seen a total of 206,227 jabs given.

Earlier today (Thursday) Isle of Wight Radio revealed Newport's Riverside Vaccination Centre is closing - for now at least.
