It comes as a warning for ice was issued by the Met Office for the Island, as previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio.

The gritters will be out from 2.30pm this afternoon and again at 4am tomorrow (Wednesday).

A spokesperson for Island Roads said:

"Please drive carefully and according to the conditions - just because a road is treated does not mean it is free from ice."
