Further details have emerged after a man was pronounced dead following a single-vehicle crash in St Helen's yesterday (Monday).
The 86-year-old driver was taken to hospital following a single-vehicle collision on Latimer Road.
Police had received the initial call shortly before midday.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
"We were called at about 11.50am yesterday (Monday) to a report of a road traffic collision at the junction of Latimer Road and the B3395.
"This involved one car, a Land Rover Discovery.
"The driver, an 86-year-old man from Ryde, was taken to hospital where he sadly died."
