Father Christmas Spotted At Newport's Barratt Homes

A special visitor has been spotted at a Barratt Homes’ development on the Isle of Wight in the lead up to Christmas.

Father Christmas has been hiding around the housebuilder’s St George’s Gate site in Newport, checking he knows his way around ahead of Christmas Eve.

Santa has been seen placing a few early gifts under the trees at the Barratt show homes, hiding in gardens, and testing out his route around the development in readiness for his big Christmas delivery.

The developer is building new homes across the region, and Tammy Bishop, Barratt Homes Sales Director, Southampton Division, said she was thrilled to see everyone’s favourite Christmas guest arrive on the Island.

She said:

“There’s only one person that truly says Christmas to all, and that’s Santa Claus himself. To see him spotted at St George’s Gate in the run-up to the big day, is just incredible.

"Our resident children will now be safe in the knowledge that he’ll know just how to drop off their presents on Christmas Eve.”

Every year, Father Christmas travels an estimated 510 million km, flying at around 10 million km an hour to make the 233 million stops on his list.

And, according to NORAD, which will run its popular online Santa tracker again this year, his first stop will be the Republic of Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean. He will then fly West around the world before he arrives in the UK.

Tammy added:

“Our development has really taken shape since Santa last visited, and there are a lot of new families living here. He and his reindeer will have lots to see.”

Barratt Homes St George's Gate is a collection of two- and three-bedroom homes.
