Fallen Trees In Newport And Niton Causing Delays And Diversions

Credit: Island Roads.

A fallen tree is causing travel disruption between St George's Roundabout and Asda in Newport this afternoon (Wednesday.)

Southern Vectis Route 2 and 3 buses will operate via Medina Ave to Asda and will not serve the St Georges stops until the tree is cleared.

Island Roads says its responders are on their way to remove it, with local diversions also currently in place for drivers.

It is not the only issue caused by the heavy winds today — reported to be as high as 75mph in some parts of the Island.

A second fallen tree is causing delays and diversions in Niton.

A large branch overhanging branch is causing issues along the carriageway at Bouldnor along Pan Lane.

There is also a report of a garden fence blowing into the highway on Sandown Road between Lake and Shanklin.
