Court Date For Man Stopped By Police In Wootton

A man will appear in court next month (November) charged with a number of motoring and drug offences after being stopped by police in Wootton yesterday (Thursday).

Officers stopped a Ford Transit van on Lushington Hill at around 4.45pm.

Brian Bailey, 45, of no fixed address, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, fraudulently using a registration mark, obstructing/resisting a constable in the execution of their duty, possessing Class B drugs, and driving while uninsured.

He has been bailed to attend Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday November 15.

A 45-year-old man had been arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and three counts of possessing a bladed article, but no further action will be taken on these charges.
