The Holiday Activities and Food programme is running this summer.

Skateboarding, performing arts and day trips have just been added to the programme.

There are now more activities for secondary school pupils, new provision in Cowes and more activities in Newport and Sandown. The activities are for young people on benefits related free school meals.

Councillor Ian Stephens, deputy leader and Cabinet member for poverty, said:

"Please don’t be embarrassed about asking for help — support with the cost of living is available for all families this summer holiday.

"The council has been striving to support residents through the unprecedented cost of living crisis that has impacted so many.

"We know that many families are struggling with daily living necessities like energy and food costs, meaning that activities or a family holiday are out of the question.

"We’d urge people to find out what they could be eligible for as it could really make a difference to them financially."
