Police Called As 'Trespasser' Enters Grounds Of Cowes Enterprise College

A young person entered the grounds of Cowes Enterprise College without permission on Friday (6), prompting a call to police.

Isle of Wight Radio has been told that a person - thought to be a teenager - managed to gain access to the academy grounds.

A concerned parent of a child at the school said they climbed over fencing, and were understood to be asking the whereabouts of a student.

A short time later, they left the site after being spotted by staff members.

A spokesperson for Cowes Enterprise College said:

“On Friday, a young person entered the academy grounds without authorisation.

"They were spotted by staff members straight away and immediately left again.

"The individual did not enter the school building, nor did they interact with any students.

“The safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority, and thanks to the safeguarding measures we have in place, we were able to ensure this incident caused minimal disruption.”

*A police spokesperson told Isle of Wight Radio:

"We were called at 2.41pm on Friday (6) with reports of two suspicious males attempting to gain access to Cowes Enterprise College, but they were refused entry by staff.

"Police attended, however the individuals had left the area and no criminal offences were disclosed."
